Libby sighed loudly as she waited in line, she couldn't believe her luck. Everyone in town seemed to want coffee at the same time! She had seen the line before she came in and thought against braving it, but the bittersweet warmth of her beloved coffee called to her so much so, she wondered in without a second thought. She peeked around the line to see the woman three people ahead of her was making not only a big order, but a picky one at that.
Apparently she was watching her figure and considered the man putting cream on her iced latte an insult, because she was letting him have it. Libby shook her head a bit and tried to ignore the rude woman as everyone else was. The man behind the counter didn't seem to mind too much, he just wanted her gone. Finally, as if a prayer was heard, the lady left. But not before a man in front of Libby gave up waiting and walked out. This just left Libby, and one more in front. She smiled to herself as the person ahead of her just simply asked for water. All that waiting for water seemed foolish, but she couldn't argue if it meant a shorter wait. Until finally it was her turn!
"Hi, I'd like a small plain black coffee please" she said with a cheerful smile. She was in a much better mood than she had been moments before. The man gave her her order and she handed him a ten, as she always did. Sure it was overpaying by six dollars but she could afford it, and the man seemed pleased with the random tip.
She took a seat at her usual spot and began to sip her coffee, feeling instant relief of any and all stress. Coffee really was the best thing around. She leaned back in her chair a bit and looked towards the door when she heard it open.
